The Highlands Recreation Department runs several programs through out the year to foster activity and fitness for our youth and adults.

Kids on the Move is an after school drop - in program (September to June) that allows kids to participate in games, sports, exercise as well as arts & crafts.

Summer Kidfest is held July through August for children ages 5-14. Nutritional Breakfast and Lunch are served. There are sports, trips, games and crafts.

Adult Indoor Soccer runs from January through March at the HHRS Gym.

Adult Open Gym Basketball runs from April through May at the HHRS Gym.

Many other programs are offered, including Middle School and High School Teen Nights at the Community Center.


Teen Nights

The Highlands / Atlantic Highlands Municipal Alliance & the Highlands Recreation Dept. will be having Teen Nights for grades 7 - 12 on Friday, September 13th and 27th, October 18th and 25th, November 15th and 22nd and December 20th from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at the Community Center. Pickleball Beginner's Clinic

Come out to the Community Center Tennis Courts on Saturday, September 14th from 4:00 - 5:30 to learn how to play one of America's fastest growing sports.  The basic rules, scoring, positioning, strokes and strategy will all be covered.  Paddles and balls will be provided.  Clinic is FREE but space is limited.  Reserve your spot at


Creative Writing Class

Improve your creative writing skills while learning new skills with this creative writing class.  This class will include utilizing figurative language, syntax, and word choice in your creative writing, which include narratives and poetry.  By the end of this class, participants will have a finished product.  Class open to ages 10 - 14.  Tuesdays, September 24 - October 29 from 6 - 7PM.  $30/Participant.  Register at:
