The Highlands Recreation Department runs several programs through out the year to foster activity and fitness for our youth and adults.
Kids on the Move is an after school drop - in program (September to June) that allows kids to participate in games, sports, exercise as well as arts & crafts.
Summer Kidfest is held July through August for children ages 5-14. Nutritional Breakfast and Lunch are served. There are sports, trips, games and crafts.
Adult Indoor Soccer runs from January through March at the HHRS Gym.
Adult Open Gym Basketball runs from April through May at the HHRS Gym.
Many other programs are offered, including Middle School and High School Teen Nights at the Community Center.
Part Time Seasonal Positions
The Highlands Recreation Dept. is now accepting applications for the following Part Time Seasonal Positions: Summer Recreation Camp Counselors, Summer Food Program - Food Preps, and a Health Director. Applications are available at the Borough Hall, 42 Shore Drive or online at www.highlandsborough.org under Recreation Dept. Please return completed applications to the Borough Hall. Highlands Summer Kidfest
Highlands Summer Kidfest Camp is going to be an absolute blast! This year, families will register for each week they would like to attend. The themes will include: Space, Science, Beach, Color Wars, Fear Factor, and Animal. Camp runs weekly sessions starting July 8th and ending August 16th from 8:30AM - 1:30PM for children 5 to 14 years of age. Breakfast and lunch is served daily.
Highlands Resident Fees: $20 per week per child Non Resident Fees: $60 per week per week

The Highlands / Atlantic Highlands Municipal Alliance & the Highlands Recreation Dept. will be having Teen Nights for grades 7 - 12 on Friday, June 14th and June 28th from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at the Community Center. Snapology - LEGO Engineering Awesomeness Camp
In Snapology's LEGO Engineering Awesomeness Camp, campers will have fun building projects and making them move. Come build super-cool cars, catapults, roller coasters, windmills, and other contraptions that use gears, axles, pulleys, and motors. This camp is for children ages 6-12 and will take place from August 19th - August 23rd at the Highlands Community Center from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The cost is $145.
