The Highlands Recreation Department runs several programs through out the year to foster activity and fitness for our youth and adults.

Kids on the Move is an after school drop - in program (September to June) that allows kids to participate in games, sports, exercise as well as arts & crafts.

Summer Kidfest is held July through August for children ages 6-14. Nutritional Breakfast and Lunch are served. There are sports, trips, games and crafts.

Adult Indoor Soccer runs from January through March at the HHRS Gym.

Adult Volleyball takes place during the Spring at the HHRS Gym.

Many other programs are offered, including Middle School and High School Teen Nights at the Community Center.

Bonfire on the Beach

SAVE THE DATE! The 3rd Annual Bonfire on the Beach will take place on Friday, June 1st from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at Snug Harbor Beach, 22 Snug Harbor Ave. More details to follow.

Summer Kidfest

The Highlands Recreation Department's Summer Kidfest will take place from July 9th - August 17th, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Highlands Community Center. This program is for children ages 6-14 and will include a nutritious breakfast and lunch, games, sports, arts and crafts, swimming at the beach, weekly special events, field trips, and much more! REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN APRIL 30TH AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER, 22 SNUG HARBOR AVE., BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. Please note this year's fees: Highlands Resident: $35 for the first 2 children, $10 each additional child; Non-Resident: $50 for the first 2 children, $15 each additional child. AFTER JUNE 15TH - LATE FEES WILL BE CHARGED: Highlands Resident: $50 for the first 2 children, $15 each additional child; Non-Resident: $75 for the first 2 children, $15 each additional child. Cash and Checks will be accepted. Proof of residency will be required. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER JULY 2nd. For further information, please call 732-872-1959.

Basketball Clinic

The Highlands Recreation Dept. will be offering a Basketball Clinic for children in Grades 4, 5, & 6. The Clinic will be coached by Matt McCarthy and take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings from April 23rd - May 16th at the Highlands Elementary School Gym. Boys in Grades 4, 5, & 6 will be from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm and Girls in Grades 4, 5, & 6 will be from 6:45 pm - 7:45 pm. The cost is $90 per child for 8 sessions and includes a T-Shirt. All participants must register in order to play. You can register on-site the first day you attend the Clinic. Accepted forms of payment are Cash and Check. Summer Recreation Positions Available

The Borough of Highlands Recreation Dept. is now accepting applications for the following Part Time Seasonal Positions: Summer Recreation Supervisors, Programmers, Aides, Summer Food Program Food Preps, and Health Director. Applications are available at the Community Center - 22 Snug Harbor Ave., Borough Hall - 42 Shore Drive or download by clicking the link below, "Form Application for Employment." Caterpillar Club

The Highlands Recreation Dept. will be offering a new program, the Caterpillar Club. This program is geared towards children ages 2-5 with a Parent / Guardian accompanying them, and will include Reading a Story, Doing an Activity, and ending with a Song or Poem. It will take place April 10th - May 10th, Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. and Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. at the Highlands Community Center. Middle School Teen Night

The Highlands / Atlantic Highlands Municipal Alliance and the Highlands Recreation Dept. will be having a Middle School Teen Night for grades 7 & 8 on Friday, April 27th from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at the Highlands Communty Center. Kids on the Move Program

The Highlands Recreation Dept. will be having its Kids on the Move Program starting on September 18th at the Robert D. Wilson Memorial Community Center from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. This Program is for Highlands children ages 5-12 and will include a variety of games, sports, arts & crafts, and lots of fun. Registration forms are available at the Community Center, 22 Snug Harbor Ave. or by clicking the link below. If you've attended the program in the past, you STILL need to re-register for the new school year. The Program will run until June 13, 2018.
