The Highlands Recreation Department runs several programs through out the year to foster activity and fitness for our youth and adults.

Kids on the Move is an after school drop- in program (September to June) that allows kids to participate in games, sports, exercise as well as arts & crafts.

Summer Kidfest is held July through August for Highlands children ages 6-14. Nutritional Breakfast and lunch are served. There are sports, trips, games and crafts.

Adult Indoor Soccer runs from December to March at the HHRS Gym.

Adult Volleyball takes place during the Spring at the HHRS Gym.

Many other programs are offered, including Middle School and High School Teen Nights at the Community Center.

Easter Egg Hunt & Candy Bingo

The Highlands Recreation Dept. will be having their annual Easter Egg Hunt & Candy Bingo on Saturday, April 1st at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Center Beach (Weather Permitting). We will start with the youngest age groups first - Please be prompt! Egg Hunt groups are as follows: TODDLERS (AGES 2 & UNDER); AGES 3 & 4; AGES 5 & 6; and AGES 7 & 8. CANDY BINGO will begin around 10:45 a.m. for children AGES 9 - 17. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments served at the Robert D. Wilson Memorial Community Center. RAIN DATE: If canceled on April 1st, the Egg Hunt will take place at 1:00 pm and the Bingo will be held at 1:45 pm on Sunday, April 2nd. For more information, please call 732-872-1959.

Highlands - Sea Bright Lifeguard Positions

As part of a Shared Service Agreement signed with the Borough of Sea Bright, Lifeguards will be provided to guard our two beaches this summer, Miller Street Beach and Snug Harbor Beach. Any Highlands residents interested in a Lifeguard position should apply directly to Sea Bright. Please click link below for instructions and more information.

Teen Night

The Highlands / Atlantic Highlands Municipal Alliance & the Highlands Recreation Dept. will be having Teen Night on Friday, March 24th from 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm at the Community Center. Building Bricks Club

The Highlands Recreation Dept. will be offering a Building Bricks Club for children ages 5 - 12 on Thursday afternoons from January 26th - March 30th at the Community Center from 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm. All participants must register in advance with the Recreation Dept. Spaces may be limited. A Parent or Guardian must fill out and sign a Registration Form. Spring Baseball and Softball Registration

Registration is now open for Sandy Hook Little League. Please go to www.theshll.com to register and / or create a player / coach account. Registration deadline is January 31, 2017, then there will be a late fee charged. For more information, please email thesandyhookll@gmail.com

Adult Open Gym Indoor Soccer

The Highlands Recreation Dept. will be offering Adult Open Gym Indoor Soccer on Wednesday evenings from December 7, 2016 - March 29, 2017 (No Open Gym on December 28th), from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm at the Henry Hudson Regional School Gym. All participants must register with the Recreation Dept. You must be at least 18 years old to play and you can register on-site the night you attend. Program slots may be limited. Kids on the Move

The Highlands Recreation Dept. will be having its Kids on the Move Program starting on September 19th at the Robert D. Wilson Memorial Community Center from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.This is a Drop In Recreation Program for Highlands children ages 5-12 and will include a variety of games, sports, arts & crafts, and lots of fun. Registration Forms are available at the Community Center, 22 Snug Harbor Ave or by clicking the link below. If you've attended the program in the past, you STILL need to re-register for the new school year. The Program will run until June 14, 2017.
